Last week Christine and I announced a new monthly link up that celebrates the beauty in our everyday lives. Today, we are happy to be hosting the very first Love the Everyday link up; a rules free, anything goes type of link up. Today we are getting back to why we started blogging…to share the everyday parts of our lives.
This past weekend I opted to be a third wheel. You see, my parents had called to tell me last month that they were going to be attending my daughter’s college choir holiday concert. It just so turned out that I have unused vacation days at work that if I didn’t use I would lose. Couldn’t have that happen so I asked if I could join them. I was so pleased that I did.
This was the second time I had listened to her and the choir perform. Watching my daughter on stage is one of my favorite things to do. A holiday concert combines some of my favorite things…Christmas and her. It was magnificent. The singers entered a darkened chapel by candlight and singing.
The chapel was standing room only, filled with students, families, and community members. Even better, thanks to today’s technology, the concert was live streamed so my husband and other family members could watch it alongside us from home.

We stayed overnight and spent some time shopping as well. Being able to spend time with her before she comes home for mid winter break was wonderful. It was nice for her to get a break from the end of semester chaos and for me to disconnect from my daily life for 2 days. I was able to focus solely on her and enjoy our time together. With all of the stress of preparing for the holidays, working, and managing daily life a break from a routine is refreshing and reviving.
I came home relaxed with a shortened Christmas shopping list and full of the holiday spirit. It was wonderful.
