Growing up I was always fascinated by mythology. I loved the stories and the legends of myths and Gods and Goddesses. One myth I was always fond of was the story of Janus. Janus was the God of beginnings and transitions. According to the myth, Janus had two faces, one to look back and one to look forward. How fitting then that January is named for this Roman God.
With the start of the new year comes a freshness and a new hope. We strive to put our best foot forward and to improve ourselves, our relationships, and the things we hold dear. Before closing the door on 2014 and starting a new chapter in our lives I thought it would be fun to revisit the past year.
January
I shared my favorite love story, mine and my husband’s.
February
I joined the Grateful Heart Monday link up for the very first time. This link up, hosted by my dear friend Emily from Ember Grey, has revolutionized the way I view Mondays. If you haven’t joined this link up, try it. Couldn’t we all use more gratitude in our lives?
March
I needed a refresher course in learning to THINK before speaking and acting. This is something that I will continue to work on my whole life. There are times where I want to react to a situation right then and there but I have come to learn that space and time definitely help cool one’s emotions.
April
April brought one of my favorite posts, Who’s In Your Tribe? Blogging is a wonderful experience made so much better by those in your tribe. My close blogging friends are what makes Love the Here and Now a space that feels like home to me.
May
I hosted my very first link up, Wednesday Wishes. The link up still happens each Wednesday. I love sharing my wishes for the week and reading others’ wishes as well. This has been such a great way to form friendships with other bloggers as well.
June
Since I had 6 months under my belt in the blogging world, I shared blogging tips that had helped me along the way. I found that I loved sharing any knowledge on blogging I had (limited as it may be).
July
Perhaps I was feeling sentimental this month. I shared 10 Things I Know to Be True. These are things that I have learned throughout life and that no matter what, they hold true. This month was also the start of one of my blogging BFF’s weekly link up, Blogger Love. If you haven’t joined yet, be sure to link up with Meagan of All the Joys each Friday where you share posts that you loved that week.
August
While the rest of the world was in full Summer mode, I was dreaming of fall, my favorite season.
September
September was a big month for Love the Here and Now. I started a new monthly series with my dear friend Ashley from The Grits Blog. Each month we share our favorite fonts. I love, love, love finding fonts to work with in blog graphics. It has become a bit of a creative outlet for me.
October
October brought the start of another link up for Love the Here and Now, 10 Awesome Things. The first Tuesday of each month you can link up and share 10 things that bring a smile to your face. It can be anything that you find awesome. I love doing this because in the midst of a not so great day or week, just taking a moment and thinking about these things can turn your day around.
November
November had me stepping outside of my comfort zone and trying something new. I did my first blog. Guess what? I loved it! Even more, I love watching others. It is so fun getting to hear bloggers and seeing them and their personalities come to life outside of their blogs. If you haven’t joined Life with Mrs. G and the Artist’s Golden Vlog series you have to give it a try!
December
My main highlight of December? Love the Here and Now turned 1! On December 26th, 2013 I gave myself the gift of this blog. I had no idea what I was doing and had no clue what it would come to mean to me. It has enriched my life in so many ways and has brought so many wonderful people into my life. I am truly blessed.
And just like that we have come full circle. A year has come and gone. As I look forward I am excited to see where Love the Here and Now takes me. I want to continue to grow this space of mine and to make new friends and develop the friendships I have created along the way. I want to continue to learn more about the behind the scenes work of blogging and photo editing. I want this to be a year of challenging myself and my blog.
I want 2015 to be the best it can be. Care to join me?
